Ever since moving into my two-story brick colonial in 2013, I have struggled figuring out how to style my brick fireplace. You see, it’s not your typical fireplace. My house was built in 1978, and with that comes 1978 architecture. Instead of a typical brick fireplace in the middle of the wall, I have an entire wall made of brick and a fireplace that’s left-aligned, instead of centered, on that wall. Additionally, I have an incredibly long fireplace mantel that tends to look unbalanced without the proper decor. Before undertaking the decorating aspect of the fireplace, I had to figure out what I was going to do with the brick wall […]
This post contains affiliate links. Please read my full disclosure for more information. I am passionate about creating beautiful living spaces. My master retreat – or bedroom – is no exception. In fact, it may be the most important space in my home. I have an almost-8-month-old daughter, and my house has turned into a baby space, pretty much everywhere. There are toys and specially created living areas just for her in every single room. Yes. Every. Single. Room. That is, until now. You see, when we transitioned my daughter from sleeping in our master suite to sleeping in her nursery, I immediately leapt into action and reverted our room back to its former glory. While doing so, I added in some extra lush touches to make […]

I am so excited about this DIY tutorial! I adore this buffet and absolutely love how it turned out – just the way I had imagined. I only spent $75 on the buffet and had mostly all the other materials needed to do this home project. In this tutorial, I will break down the process in an easy-to-digest, step-by-step format so that you too can achieve this look with virtually any piece of wood furniture. Once you know the basics of wood working, you can apply your knowledge and skill to any wood project. My dad is a master with anything wood related. He actually owned his own woodworking business for twenty-some years, so as you can imagine, I have picked up […]
Hello friends! I am so excited to share with you my dining room reveal. I had been wanting to tackle this project for quite some time. Our dining room wasn’t in bad shape, but I needed to spruce it up. I started with the walls. Painting makes a huge difference, but you know what makes an even bigger difference? Prepping the walls before you paint. We must’ve had 60 holes on the dining room walls that needed filling. So, one day, I took some time to fill them and then let them dry. I then sanded the parts of the walls that needed sanding. Once finished, I painted. After I let the paint dry, I did a second coat the next day. For the paint, I actually […]
When my husband and I moved into our home in 2013, we walked into a home with barely any updates and mostly original fixtures from 1978. I had been wanting to update our fireplace ever since I saw it. Not only was the brick color a bit dark for the space, but the fireplace came with an additional challenge: it’s off-centered on the brick wall. This meant that I had be very strategic about staging it after I got the color perfected. Here’s what the wall looked like prior to whitewashing: I knew I wanted to whitewash the brick since I moved into the house in 2013, and we finally decided to take the plunge three years after moving in. Whitewashing […]
